MARINE SAFETY INFORMATION BULLETIN: NOVEL WUHAN CORONAVIRUS

In light of the recent outbreak of the NOVEL WUHAN CORONAVIRUS, Marine Safety Office (MSU) Portland is taking additional steps in order to maintain a proactive posture regarding the virus.  Our Port State Control office will be reaching out to various vessels desiring to hail ports within the Sector Columbia River Captain of the Port zone in order to determine whether or not any of the vessel's crew members are exhibiting any of the symptoms.

Please refer to the attached MARINE SAFETY INFORMATION BULLETIN which provides details regarding the history of the virus, common symptoms, the current stance of the Coast Guard regarding the virus, as well as useful links in the event you have questions or possibly believe you may have an infected crew member onboard one of your vessels.

** The master of a ship destined for a U.S. port is required to notify the CDC per 42 CFR 71.1, using the Maritime Conveyance Illness or Death Investigation Form, attached.**
